What does hypnosis feel like?
Modern day hypnotherapy does not always require you to go into a trance: much hypnosis can be done quite conversationally. Having said that, guiding you into a gentle trance can help you relax and allow your conscious mind to quieten. Many people liken trance to a kind of daydream. You remain awake but you will likely feel very relaxed. For those who go into a deep trance, you may feel as if you are drifting off; you’re aware of what’s going on but you allow yourself to let go, almost as if you are hovering between being awake and asleep. Some people report that they didn’t feel like they went into a trance at all, and yet they noticed significant changes almost immediately after their session.
Does it work for everyone?
Everyone can be hypnotised to some degree. While the depth of trance differs from person to person, and there are no concrete guarantees, if you come with an open mind and are willing to follow my instructions, the chances of it working are extremely high.
Can I be persuaded to do something I don’t want to do?
Not at all. You will be completely in control and I will be monitoring you closely throughout our session. You will be able to offer feedback at any time during the process. If something doesn’t resonate with you, you’ll be able to communicate that, just as you would in a normal conversation.
Do you use scripts?
No. While many traditional hypnotherapists use set scripts for a range of issues, those of us who trained with Dr Paul McKenna are taught a wide range of techniques and applications that can be adapted to the needs of each individual client. Each practitioner then naturally develops their own unique style. This means that each session is truly geared towards you and your own specific needs.
What should I expect from a session?
Before your first appointment, you’ll be sent a form to fill out and send back. In your first session, we’ll start by having a chat about what you’d like to achieve and go from there.
We’ll begin with some gentle relaxation exercises and I’ll teach you some techniques you can use on your own.
I’ll take you through a short visualisation, much like a guided meditation, so that your conscious mind can deeply relax, allowing me to have a conversation with your unconscious mind, whereby I’ll ask for co-operation in helping you achieve your desired outcome.
At the end of the session, I will bring you back out of trance, feeling refreshed and alert but remaining relaxed.
What if I can’t visualise?
When I talk about visualisation, I am not asking you to imagine things exactly as they are in real life, simply to have an idea of what a particular image might mean to you and that, of course, is personal to your own experience. While some people do have a condition called “aphantasia” where they struggle to produce mental images, I’ve yet to meet a client who can’t get a sense of something in a way that we can use in our session.
Will I blurt out all my secrets?
No! We don’t need to keep delving into the past for hypnosis to work; it’s not like traditional therapy. With some techniques, you may be asked to briefly recall a particular experience or time in your life, so that we can work together to loosen its grip on you. However, you do not need to share that experience with me if you would rather not. You will be in control the entire time and anything you choose to reveal will be entirely your decision and will remain completely confidential.
Can hypnotherapy really be done online?
It works incredibly well. And it means that you can have a session in the comfort of your own home and we don’t even need to be in the same time zone!
How long does it take?
We usually start with a 90 minute session to go through what you’d like to achieve, what you may have tried before and what did or didn’t work. Follow up appointments tend to be 60 minutes but we can tailor these to adapt to your schedule.
Many people find they only need one or two sessions to deal with an issue such as smoking cessation, confidence boosting, anxiety relief or phobias. Weight loss programmes can take a little longer, usually spread over 6 weeks. Bear in mind that if you have a number of issues you’d like to work on, separate sessions may be needed.
How much does it cost?
The initial hypnotherapy appointment costs €100 (£90 GBP) for 90 minutes with follow up sessions €70 (£60 GBP) for 60 minutes.

Do I need to have yoga experience?
Yoga is for everyone, no matter your experience, age or level of mobility.
I’m not flexible at all, can I still do yoga?
Absolutely! Some people are simply born more flexible than others. I am not naturally flexible myself, but daily yoga hugely helps with that.
What should I expect from a session?
For a one-to-one session, we’ll go through any previous medical history and issues you may be experiencing and together we’ll devise a simple yoga sequence that you can do at home. Once you’re feeling comfortable with that sequence, we can go on and develop more so that you feel you are progressing at the rate that is right for you. I hope you will feel at ease but engaged and sometimes challenged, but always moving at a pace that is right for you.
My Physio has given me exercises to do, but I am struggling to keep at it. Can you help?
Yes. Clinical Yoga is designed to work with people who may have issues with injury and/or rehabilitation. For safety, it’s best to check with your physio or other health professional, and once you have the go ahead, we will work together to design a programme unique to you that works on what you need and keeps you interested. You may notice how it improves not only your mobility, pain level and range of motion, but that there are undoubted mental health benefits as well.
What should I wear?
Comfortable clothing that you can move in easily. A few layers is a good idea too.
Do I need to bring anything?
You might like to bring your own mat if you have one, if not, one can be provided, along with props such as a rolled up towel, blocks or straps. A bottle of water is a good idea also.
Are sessions individual or in a group?
Both. Get in touch and we can discuss what’s best for you.

What kind of pressure will you use?
We will discuss your preferred pressure at the start of the session and I will check with you as I work. Please do let me know if you would like a different pressure.
Does it hurt?
There may be some discomfort when sore or tense areas are massaged, but this should feel like a release rather than pain. Please always let me know of any sensations you are experiencing and feel free to offer feedback throughout.
Do I need to undress?
Do whatever makes you feel most comfortable. For the best skin to skin contact, down to underwear is preferable, but you are welcome to wear a vest and shorts or leggings if that suits you better. We can work through clothing for most massages, apart from Maderotherapy, We will provide towels to help cover you as you change position on the table. Please do let me know if you have any concerns at all.
I have some general health issues; can I still get a massage?
Please check with your GP or other health practitioner in the first instance. Once they have given the go-ahead, let me know of any concerns and I will do my best to accommodate you.
How much does it cost?
From €60.00 for 45 minutes.

How does it work?
Also known as wood therapy or Brazilian Lymphatic Drainage, the body is first prepped with oil and gentle massage to warm up the tissues. Unlike traditional manual lymphatic drainage, which uses light strokes, Maderotherapy involves fast, rhythmic movement with deep pressure.
A range of smooth wooden tools are used to massage the legs, trunk, buttocks, stomach, back, arms and face, improving circulation and facilitating lymphatic drainage, reducing water retention and eliminating toxins.
The deep tissue manipulation helps break down stubborn fat cells, leading to a more sculpted appearance.
The repetitive movements stimulate blood flow, oxygenating the tissues and enhancing skin health.
Many people notice a distinct improvement in the appearance of cellulite after just one session.
What should I wear?
Please wear loose fitting clothing to your appointment. You will need to undress down to underwear and if you wear a bra, please wear one that has straps which open (i.e. not a sports bra).
Does it hurt?
Once the body is warmed up, the pressure is generally quite deep and it can feel a bit uncomfortable at times, but there are lots of relaxing elements too and it does tend to be more relaxing as you get used to it. However, please let me know if you are experiencing any sharp pain. Some clients experience mild bruising after the first session, but this is generally short lasting.
How many sessions will I need?
It varies from client to client, and visible results are often very quick. To get the best out of Maderotherapy, an initial set of 8 full body sessions is recommended, followed by regular top ups, but it is completely up to you once you see how your body responds.
Are there any other benefits?
Wood therapy involves controlled pressure which helps the muscles to relax and tension to be reduced, resulting in an increased sense of wellbeing and improved flexibility.
How much does it cost?
From €90.00 for a facial treatment €140.00 for full body.
